This was an interesting dessert, and as much as I love everything almond flavored, this was not one of my favorites. It wasn't bad, just not nearly as delicious as I hoped for.
Ingredients
60g flour
0.25 tsp salt
4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp ice water
top layer:
1/3 cup water
3 tbsp butter
1/3 cup flour
1 egg
0.5 tsp almond extract
icing:
0.25 cup icing sugar
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
0.25 tsp almond extract
topping:
100g jam
0.25 cup slivered almonds
Preparation
Preheat oven to 375F.
Combine flour and salt. Cut in butter. Stir in water and bring together into a dough ball.
Spread into a 10 by 3 inch rectangle onto a parchment line cookie sheet.
Bring water, butter, and salt to boil. Add in flour and stir in. Beat for a minute with a handheld blender. Then beat in the egg followed by the almond extract, until the mixture is smooth.
Spread onto dough log evenly, covering the edges as well.
Bake for 40-50 minutes, until a golden brown.
Sop with jam, slivered almonds, and icing.
Serve cool!
