Portugese flippers

These are elongated, flipper-shaped donuts basically. You serve them with maple syrup and butter if desired. They are delicious!

Ingredients

2 cups flour

1 tbsp yeast

0.75 tsp salt

3 tbsp sugar

1 cup milk

0.25 cup water

Preparation

Bloom the yeast with a portion of the sugar and the warm water.

Mix the flour with the salt and the rest of the sugar. Add bloomed yeast to the warm milk and mix it all into the flour. Allow to rise in a warm place until doubled in size. The dough should be very sticky, so handle on an oiled surface with oiled hands.

Heat a nonstick pan with 2 tbsp of oil on medium high. Cut the dough into 6 pieces and stretch each into a flipper shape.

Fry each side of the flippers until light brown. Serve immediately drizzled with syrup and butter if desired.
