Lentil dal

I have been exploring red lentils, which are more expensive here than their standard brown counterparts. They have a superior texture when cooked. This delicious lentil dal is perfect quick meal, nutritionally balanced, deliciously healthy.
Ingredients
1 large onion
4 cloves garlic
1 inch ginger grated
0.5 tsp turmeric
1 tsp coriander
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garam masala
1 tbsp vegetable oil
300g red lentils
4 cups broth
2 tbsp flour
0.5 cup milk
15 oz diced canned tomatoes
salt
pepper
sugar
lemon juice
handfuls of swiss chard

Preparation
Dice the onions and sautee until caramelized.

Add the crushed garlic, grated ginger, and the spices. Cook for a minute or two.

Stir in the lentils. Add three cups of the broth and simmer until lentils are tender.

Add canned tomatoes and milk. Add the shredded swiss chard leaves or spinach. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Mix the flour into the last 1 cup of broth and mix into the soup and bring back to a boil. Serve with bread.
