Bean and kraut stew

Such a simple staple that everyone fell in love with in the family. I am shamelessly converting everyone to Hungarian-style cooking. Everything in this can be found in the pantry! It comes together in under 30 minutes and deliver the feel of a long-simmered, hearty, winter stew.

Ingredients

3 cans of beans

1-2 lb sauerkraut

16 oz tomato sauce

1 yellow onion

2-3 tbsp vegetable oil

1 tbsp Hungarian paprika

3 bay leaves

Preparation

Dice the onion and sauté on the vegetable oil for a few minutes, until translucent. Mix in the paprika and cook for 30 seconds, then stir in the tomato sauce and bay leaves.

Mix in the drained and rinsed beans and the kraut. Stir well, season with salt, and simmer for 10 minutes. Fish out the bay leaves before serving. Serve with crusty bread.
