Chocolate donuts

I'm not a fan of deep frying, in fact, deep fried foods are one of the only food categories I enjoy as a take out. It's messy, uses a lot of oil, and usually generates somewhat unhealthy foods. However, some foods I enjoy immensely, and it is worth it to adapt them to a different method just to be able to enjoy them at home. Donuts and fries are two of these food items. Here, I present perfect, oven-baked, fluffy donuts filled with chocolate pudding and topped with chocolate icing.

Ingredients

500g flour

50g butter

70g sugar

3 tsp yeast

1 egg

1 cup milk

50mL water

chocolate pudding from 2 cups milk

chocolate icing from 1 cup icing sugar and 3 tbp cocoa powder

Preparation

Bloom the yeast in the water with a spoonful of sugar. Add the warm milk and the remaining sugar.

Add the flour into a kitchen aid blender, cut the butter into it. Pour in the milky yeast mix and add the egg. Knead for 5 minutes. Allow to double in an oiled bowl.

Roll out into a 1-inch-thick rectangle and cut 2-3-inch circles from it. Allow to rise on a parchment-lined baking sheet until very puffy. Spray with oil and bake in a preheated 325F oven until very lightly browned.

Allow to cool and pipe the chocolate pudding into the donuts. Frost with chocolate icing. Serve!
