Amazing quiche

 


This fanciful dish, filling yet elegant, was just newly introduced to my stepkids. They were fans. But how could you go wrong with such tasty ingredients? I am still reluctant to make pie crust, but that is most definitely not the show stopper here. So feel free to use a decent, store-bought crust for this recipe.

Ingredients

9-inch pie crust 

5-6 eggs

4 oz shredded cheddar

4 oz ham

4 oz chopped, precooked mushrooms

1 small chopped onion

1/3 tsp white pepper

0.25 tsp nutmeg

1.25 cup half and half


Preparation

Pre-bake the pie crust for 10 minutes at 350F. Sautee the chopped onions with the mushrooms. Dice the ham.

Beat the eggs with the cream and spices. Season with a pinch of salt.

Sprinkle in the onions into the prebaked pie crust. Add in the ham cubes. Beat the shredded cheddar into the egg mix and pour into the crust. Sprinkle top with some extra cheese.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until center is just set. Cool before serving with a side salad.
