Cardamom braid


A light and fluffy bread with a mild sweetness. Delicious with honey and butter, warm out of the oven!

Ingredients
6 tbsp warm milk
2.5 tbsp sugar
0.5 tsp salt
0.25 cup unsalted butter
1 tsp cardamom
1.5 tsp yeast
2 cups flour
0.25 cup warm water
1 egg yolk
1 egg white wash
Swedish pearl sugar to top

Preparation
Bloom the yeast with a small pinch of the sugar and all the water. Add in the melted butter, the rest of the sugar, the egg yolk, and the warm milk.

Mix in the flour, salt, and cardamom. Knead until smooth and stretchy.

Allow to double in size. Cut into three pieces and braid. Allow to double in size again.


Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with pearl sugar, and bake at 350F, until light brown (30-40 minutes).

Cool on a wire rack.
