Sweet potato oven-fries

Like the standard potato fries I described here, the preparation of these uses very little oil, and you can spice them!
There are many recipes out there for oven preparation of sweet potato fries, the major alteration in my recipe is a 5-minute precooking. When I followed the other recipes, which just chopped the potatoes and tossed the sweet potato wedges with oil and spices, I invariably got the potato wedges burnt. This was bad. Not only the taste, but the charred surfaces are also carcinogenic.
So, if you like the taste of slightly caramelized, sweet potatoes, without the coal flavored carcinogen part, try these!

Ingredients
3-4 sweet potatoes
1 tbsp oil
black pepper and other spices to taste

Preparation
Peel and slice the potatoes. Cook in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Drain and pour onto a baking sheet.
Toss with oil and spices. Bake in a preheated 400F oven for 30-40 minutes (depends on the size of your wedges).
